Want to add some spooky decor to your home but you’re short on time? These cheap and easy Halloween decorations are perfect for you! And thanks to Amazon, you can get these decor items quickly and have more time to enjoy them in your home.
Typically, my husband and kids decorate the outside of the house with whatever they find in our Halloween bins. It’s usually a motley assortment of skeletons, floating specters, and spider webs. I claim the front porch and interior as my territory, where I like our decor spooky but not scary. You won’t find any blood or zombies inside the house!
Here are a few of the easiest and most budget-friendly ways to add some spooky decor during Halloween.
Bat Decals
I use these bats every year because they’re so fast and easy to put up. The set of 60 bats includes multiple sizes so you can fit them pretty much anywhere. I use a small strip of painter’s tape folded on the back to avoid damaging the walls. This makes them easy to move around. (Note: Some bat decals come with adhesive stickers, but the ones I use are reusable each year and don’t risk leaving any residue on the wall.)
For placement, I usually start with the bigger-sized bats and fill in with the smaller sizes. I like to place them around the TV above our mantel and around the large picture window in our kitchen.
One of my favorite tricks is to stick a few on the inside of a lampshade. When you turn the lamp on at night, you get a spooky surprise.

Witch Hats
Hanging cheap black witch hats from the ceiling is a super easy way to give your home a Halloween feel without spending a bunch of money. Clear fishing line works best for hanging the hats because it creates more of an illusion that they’re hovering in midair, but string works fine.
Thread a needle with fishing line and pass it through the tip of the hat’s point. Tie a knot inside the hat to hold the fishing line in place. Then let out as much fishing line as you need and tie a loop in the other end. Hang the loop on clear Command hooks stuck to the ceiling. (I’ve been doing this for years and never had an issue with paint coming off the ceiling.)

Floating Candles
I’m obviously not the only person who saw “Harry Potter & the Sorcerer’s Stone” years ago and immediately fell in love with the floating candles in the Great Hall, since this is a very popular idea. Like the witch hats, flameless candles suspended from the ceiling with fishing line look like they’re floating, especially at night.
I recommend a set of flameless taper candles that come with a remote. Don’t forget to check that the batteries work (it’s easier when they aren’t already hanging from the ceiling – ask me how I know!)
Tie a loop around the flame of your flameless candle and hang the other end of the fishing line from a clear Command hook on the ceiling.

Free YouTube Halloween TV Art
When frame TVs started to rise in popularity, the appeal is obvious: disguising this boring black box as a piece of art. Well, thanks to YouTube, you don’t need an actual frame brand to make your TV look slightly more appealing. I’m using free YouTube TV art in all of the pictures in this post where you can see the TV!
If you have a smart TV or any kind of device like a Roku or Amazon Firestick, you can use the YouTube app to create the look of art on a budget. I’m using free YouTube TV art in all of the pictures in this post where you can see the TV!
Open the YouTube app and search “vintage Halloween TV art” (or any other holiday) and you’ll find a wide range of cute Halloween-themed art to display on your TV. A lot of the options now display a frame as well, but I prefer it without one since you can still see the edge of the TV around it.

Black Candles
This won’t blow your mind, but black candles in any size or shape add a spooky vibe to your normal decor. Black taper candles are easy to find on Amazon, but I found a variety of decorative black taper candles at Michael’s last year. If you prefer flameless candles, this set would look great in some brass candlestick holders.

Spooky Fabric
You can find spooky fabric almost anywhere during the Halloween season. Target and Spirit Halloween both carry different types for under $10. You’re looking for either black or white fabric that’s shredded to give it that spooky vibe.
It works great draped over a mantle or sideboard. Because it’s already torn, you can easily attach it with hooks. It’s also lightweight enough that resting a few heavier items on it will keep it in place.

You can see in the photos above that I reuse a lot of these cheap and easy Halloween decorations over and over again. They’re easy to store, simple to put up, and you can change the look each year just by putting them in a different spot. Halloween decorating doesn’t have to be difficult or time-consuming. Hopefully this post has given you some inspiration to add some spooky Halloween fun to your home this year!
